VERD, Green Oil (Prasino Ladi): Motor Oil Group unveiled its new subsidiaries that will play a leading role in circular economy.
Motor Oil Group presented its subsidiaries VERD and Green Oil (Prasino Ladi), on Tuesday 31 October, at the Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens.
VERD was founded in 2005 and is engaged in the production and marketing of biofuels. The company has a biodiesel production plant in Volos with a production capacity of 80,000 tons of biodiesel per year. At the same time, the activity of Green Oil (Prasino Ladi), a subsidiary of VERD, focuses on the collection of waste oil in order to produce biodiesel, a green fuel with a low environmental footprint, which contributes to the reduction of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas emissions by 90%. Specifically, the company annually collects about 50% of the quantities of waste oil produced in our country, which it currently recycles at the plant of its parent company, VERD, for the industrial production of pure biodiesel.
Following its strategic plan to play a leading role in green energy by driving energy transformation, in 2022 Motor Oil Group proceeded with the acquisition of VERD, thus expanding its already dynamic presence in the renewable and alternative fuels sector. It should be noted that the Group has a strong footprint in the circular economy through its subsidiary, LPC, which has one of the largest and most technologically advanced lubricant re-refining plants in Europe.
With the leading expertise and know-how of Prasino Ladi, coupled with the innovation of VERD and the wider support and presence of the Motor Oil Group, the aim is to create a regional leader in the field of renewable fuels and the circular economy, which will be dedicated to the production and marketing of sustainable alternative fuels with a low environmental footprint.
At the opening of the event, Mr. Petros Tzannetakis, Deputy CEO of Motor Oil Group, said: “The green transition that also ensures Greece’s energy autonomy is a priority of strategic importance for Motor Oil Group. Our alliance with VERD and Green Oil further strengthens the Group’s strategic position in the circular economy and launches an even stronger chapter in the pillar of alternative fuels and sustainable development. With continuity, consistency, stability, quality and reliability, we are committed to taking responsible action with vehicles of all our subsidiaries.”
Then, Mr. George Kyriakopoulos, General Manager of VERD noted: “VERD and Prasino Ladi‘s immediate plans are to convince every Greek to recycle the frying oil that comes from their home. To inform them about the harmful effects of disposal on the environment and to bring recycling closer to them, even to their doorstep. Our mission is to make citizens feel like everyday heroes, truly responsible for the planet and our shared future.”
Finally, it is noted that during the event, which was coordinated by journalist Rania Tragomallou, the official viewing of the new campaign of the company Prasino Ladi was held, along with relevant audiovisual material, followed by a testimonial by the distinguished chef Lefteris Lazarou, who noted the importance of recycling used oil from both the catering sector and households.
